What is Order Management?

Order management starts with the customer placing an order and ends with the customer receiving the goods or service. Order management captures the order, tracks it and finally fulfills it — where the best-case scenario would be the goods or service are delivered as per customer’s specifications at the time of placing the order.

An order management system ensures that an order is fulfilled precisely according to specifications, which in turn ensures a seamless customer experience. For a company, it ensures the lowest possible costs, end-to-end inventory visibility and an optimized shipping and return system. This also ensures revenue growth time and again. For companies with a global footprint, a well-executed order management process helps employees follow standard operating procedures while processing an order.
