What is a just-in-case supply chain strategy?

Just-in-case, or JIC, is an inventory management strategy that focuses on keeping a large standing inventory.

Just-in-case supply chains operate by anticipating demand. To reduce the risk of stockouts due to large-scale disruptions and complexities, companies adopt just-in-case strategies to build supply chain resilience.

Just-in-case stands in contrast to the just-in-time model, in which materials are moved only right before they are needed. Learn more about supply chain software and supply chain services offered by GEP.
